Our Travels take us along a route originally built as the Old Colony and Newport Railway. Formed in July 1863 when the Old Colony and Fall River Railroad merged with the Newport and Fall River Railroad, which had been incorporated in 1846 to build a railroad from Newport, Rhode Island to the Massachusetts state line at Fall River. The newly formed Old Colony & Newport Railway Company completed the final section of the line from Fall River to Newport and opened for service on February 5, 1864. Continually operated since 1864, we journey on one of the oldest rail lines still operating in America.
Topiary Garden, Narraganset Bay, Carnegie Tower, Mount Hope Bridge, Bristol Ferry, Hummocks...all can tell a story of history...all enjoyed during our travels.
